All aboard for Hope Valley’s cruise day
On Friday, 27th May, residents at Estia Health Hope Valley set sail away from the winter chill and in to the warm tropical waters. Led by their charismatic Captain, Vanessa (a.k.a. Lifestyle Coordinator), the team created an authentic cruise ship experience for their residents.
After discussing how wonderful it would be to escape the dreary winter and set off on an adventure, the idea for a ‘cruise ship’ holiday emerged. The lifestyle team incorporated the idea into the regular craft activities, making decorations for the upcoming themed day.
With the home looking the part, itineraries prepared and boarding passes issued, it was time to set off on an adventure. The residents, as well as their friends and families were treated to delicious seafood creations as well as a variety of tasty desserts prepared by the talented kitchen staff especially for the occasion.
Those who have been on board a cruise ship, know that the list of activities is endless and Estia Health Hope Valley did not disappoint their passengers! With fun games on the deck, Casino Games at the Port, Mocktails at the Bow and many performances in the Hull – there was an activity to please all.
When the time came to dock, the staff received much praise for their mammoth efforts in preparation for a fantastic day.
‘I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else’ – said one of the residents. ‘It’s the best decision we have made. I used to get so lonely, but I don’t here, it’s like a big family!’
Another family complimented the staff ‘for such a well thought out and well organised day. The work that was put in to the day was extraordinary!’.
