Neil still remembers the first time he saw Lorna. It was more than seven decades ago at a community dance. She was with friends, smiling and full of life. He made his way over, asked her to dance, and she said yes.
Neil still remembers the first time he saw Lorna. It was more than seven decades ago at a community dance. She was with friends, smiling and full of life. He made his way over, asked her to dance, and she said yes.
From that moment, something simply felt right. Their steps fell into rhythm, and by the end of the night, a connection had begun. One that would grow into a lifetime together.
Neil and Lorna built a life side by side, sharing the things they loved most. They kept active, whether it was sport, long walks, a round of golf or discovering somewhere new. They supported one another, encouraged each other, and found joy in the everyday moments.
Over time, their family became the centre of everything. Children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought energy and great pride. Holidays, road trips and time around the table created memories that continue to be treasured.
Through all of life’s chapters, their relationship has remained steady and kind, built on respect and patience.
Today, after 75 years together, Neil and Lorna continue their journey at Estia Health Healesville, still side by side. Here, their days are shaped around what matters most to them – morning walks through the garden, sharing meals, and the comfort of familiar routines.
Caring for two people who have built something this beautiful together is something our team is proud of. We think about what it means to support not just two individuals, but a partnership; one that has been going longer than many of us have been alive. Whether it’s ensuring they can enjoy the small rituals they’ve always shared or making sure they are never far from one another, we support who they are and what they mean to each other. And it’s our privilege to make sure those things remain possible.
When asked about the secret to their long life together, their answer is simple:
Be kind. Listen. Help one another. Keep talking.
This way of living resonates with us. Good care, like a good relationship, is built on kindness, listening and communication. Values that sit at the heart of how we care for every person and that we see lived out every day in Neil and Lorna, still hand in hand, at home with us at Estia Health Healesville.
