Estia Health gets ready to reopen $34 million Blakehurst home

Media release. 30 November 2020

Today, marked a significant milestone as Estia Health began entering the final stages of construction of its new $34 million residential aged care home, located at 392-394 Princes Highway, Blakehurst.

Due to open in February 2021, Estia Health invited Georges River Council’s Mayor Kevin Greene for a preview and tour of the site to see what the new home will offer. The original 42 place home was demolished in 2018 to make way for a larger 105 place home that will offer quality residential aged care services to the Blakehurst community. The home will join Estia Health’s other two homes in Kogarah and Bexley, to offer a breadth of services and choice for the ageing community.

Estia Health’s Chief Customer Officer, Damian Hiser spoke of Estia Health’s vision to deliver customer-focused residential aged care services to the breadth of communities in which it operates ‘Our purpose is to enrich and celebrate life together. This new home can offer the space and amenities required for the complex, high-care people now require when entering aged care. Combined with our exceptional team of clinicians and lifestyle and hospitality teams, I truly believe Estia Health Blakehurst will deliver to that purpose and create a home that meets the unique needs and wants of the local community’.

Mayor Greene says ‘Estia Health have done a magnificent job here at Carss Park to be able to provide such a home, not just for our local residents, I’m sure there will be people that come from all over Sydney to enjoy the opportunity presented in this integrated site’.

Located next to Carss Bush Park, the five-storey home will include options for couples wanting to remain together and includes multiple dining, living, outdoor terraces, courtyards and multipurpose areas for lifestyle events and activities. There will also be a hairdressing salon, beauty therapy room and a Wellbeing Centre, which will include physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for residents as well as the local community. These services will be delivered alongside Estia Health’s core clinical care, led by Registered Nurses on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
