Estia Health Blakehurst warmly welcomes Rose
Estia Health Blakehurst opened in February and has welcomed a number of residents through its doors. We caught up with Rose, one of the first residents to move in to Estia Health Blakehurst to hear how she’s getting on.
‘The food’s very nice. I’ve just enjoyed my lunch, chicken and carrots and a few things. It’s healthy food and I haven’t got to cook it, and that’s what I love!’
Rose explained how she came to move into the home ‘I was living on my own and my daughter wanted me to go somewhere nice. I didn’t want to go at first, but we came in and had a look and I liked it and that was it.’
The home’s Chef Glenn visits residents daily to gather feedback on the meals being served and so far Rose is very happy with the meals and choices on offer ‘The food’s very nice. I’ve just enjoyed my lunch, chicken and carrots and a few things. It’s healthy food and I haven’t got to cook it, and that’s what I love!’
The home has a daily lifestyle program offering resident-centred activities and Rose spoke of the activities she’s been enjoying most in the home. She enjoys bingo and won two bars of chocolate the other day.
‘You make new friends at mealtimes when you’re all sitting together.’
Rose also spoke of how she’s enjoyed connecting with the other residents and how the team have been helping her settle into the home. ‘You make new friends at mealtimes when you’re all sitting together.’
Offering both short-term respite and permanent residential aged care, the beautiful new home boasts spacious single rooms and companion rooms for couples, with access to multiple dining and living areas, and outdoor terraces, including a beautiful top floor sky terrace with views across Kogarah Bay.
