When David first toured our Golden Grove home, he felt that we were "too good for him" and that he didn't deserve such kindness.
This humble gentleman has been with us since February 2025, and his initial hesitation spoke volumes about his gentle nature, the kind of warmth and humility we have the privilege of witnessing every day in our homes.
When David arrived, his family mentioned something simple: he enjoys milkshakes. Our team listened, and that small detail sparked something beautiful.
"My family mentioned to the ladies at the front desk that I liked milkshakes and on the same day, I was offered a lovely chocolate milkshake which I hadn't had in years. It even had 2 scoops of ice cream. I now receive a milkshake every day and just that small gesture makes my life here that bit more complete. Thank you." – David
What started as one thoughtful gesture has blossomed into something much more. We now have multiple residents enjoying morning milkshakes to kick-start their day, creating a sweet new tradition. For David, this simple act of being listened to helped him settle into his new home. He quickly found the courage to come out of his room for meals and now joins some of our ladies in the dining room for High Tea.
