COVID-19 Update: Update on Ardeer Home
Estia Health confirms that earlier today they received advice that 13 residents at its Ardeer home in West Melbourne have tested positive for COVID-19.
The home implemented the company’s COVID-19 positive test response plan, following the self-reporting of a positive test result by an employee of the home, last Thursday. The home was locked down and authorities notified, who directed that all residents and employees be tested.
On learning of the positive test result for the employee on Thursday, we immediately informed residents and their families, as well as employees. We have also informed them of the results of the tests today. We have added extra support for families to maintain contact with their loved ones.
Families can also make direct contact with mangers of the home through a dedicated phone line. We are working closely with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services Public Health Unit and the Commonwealth Department of Health to manage and monitor the situation.
Estia Health also confirms as announced earlier today a second employee self-reported a positive COVID-19 test over the weekend. This employee worked at our homes in Coolaroo and Heidelberg West. All residents and their families, as well as employees have been informed at these homes.
Residents at these two homes will undergo testing and we will be providing further information to residents and their families and employees as these results come in. The safety of our residents and employees remains our number one priority.
We would like to thank our staff, residents and their families for their continued support and understanding at this difficult time.
