COVID-19 Update: Estia Health temporarily ceases visitor access
Estia Health advises additional measures to ensure the safety of the frail and vulnerable people in our care. These additional measures include temporarily ceasing visitor access to all our homes.
We understand that this decision will have significant impact on our residents and their close contacts and sincerely apologise for this.
The decision was made following careful consideration of the Australian Government’s updated recommendations for Residential Aged Care Facilities in relation to COVID-19 and as the rate of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the community escalates. Estia Health will consider visitor exemptions on compassionate grounds.
Estia Health Chief Executive Officer Ian Thorley said “We understand these changes will have a significant impact however we believe these steps are necessary to protect our residents and our employees.”
“We encourage family and friends of our residents to maintain contact by email, telephone and video calls.”
Estia Health is in the process of introducing technology to allow our residents to “virtually” connect with their family and friends.
Estia Health would like to thank all residents, their family and friends, for their understanding and support. We also thank our employees for their continued hard work and dedication during this challenging period.
We will continue to monitor changes in this unprecedented situation and provide updates on the re-opening of homes to visitors.
